Randwick Preview: Brutality And Bayliss Looking For Big Win
December 9, 2022
JOCKEY Regan Bayliss believes Brutality is in similar form to last year and he can again win Sydney and Randwick’s premier summer mile race, which is the $2 million The Ingham 2022 on Saturday.
Last year Brutality produced his trademark finishing burst to win the Group 2 Villiers Stakes, which has been renamed The Ingham 2022 and if he can win he will be the first horse to have won the race two years in a row.
Brutality hasn’t been successful in 13 starts since that win but Bayliss said to Racing NSW he’s in similar form to last year.
Last Saturday he finished fifth at Rosehill over 1400 metres flying home from last despite carrying 64.5 kilos.
Last year the Joe Pride trained gelding finished third in the same race carrying 60.5 kilos before his victory. He will carry one kilo more with a weight of 54kg.
“It was a very similar run to before he won the Villiers last year, if not a little bit better,” Bayliss told Racing NSW website.
“We drew the widest barrier and it would have been nice to land a little bit closer but they went so quick in that race and he was just off the bridle the whole way.”

Bayliss said Brutality’s fifth in The Gong was also a good run but he cost himself the race by being slowly away after falling asleep in the barriers due to the delay to the start.
Brutality is a $9 chance with TopSport.
