Our racing analysts have worked through Thursday’s meeting to supply you with their top three tips in every race below.
We have crunched the form, sectionals & replays to supply you with our top 3 selections in every race.
Race 1 – 1:15PM MAIDEN HANDICAP (900 METRES)
- Nami’s Jewel
- Hayek
- Uncle Barry
Thoughts:
This looks a thin maiden with three clear standouts. Nami’s Jewel goes on top after strong field-strength indicators and early speed. Hayek rates close behind with sharp trials and a class drop, while Uncle Barry profiles as the best of the closers and holds fitness. The rest need sharp improvement to threaten.
Race 2 – 1:50PM SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)
- Green Spring
- Maid Of Moolah
- Pontevedra
Thoughts:
Expect tempo to be genuine with a few wanting handy spots. Green Spring brings the strongest platform—two solid preps and trial form—and should park just behind the speed and pounce. Maid of Moolah resumes with race-quality figures and late strength, suited if they overdo it. Pontevedra debuts from the rail for the hot Messara/Morgan combo and is the sharp unknown with map favours.
Race 3 – 2:25PM MAIDEN HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
- Columbus
- Lady Parkhurst
- Ironheart
Thoughts:
Tempo looks controlled, suiting those with a turn of foot. Columbus was held up on debut yet charged late—natural improvement makes him the one to beat. Lady Pankhurst maps handy from gate 2 and gets her chance back to drier ground. Ironheart was also luckless in the same Newcastle race and can surge into the finish.
Race 4 – 3:05PM CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
- Squeezebox
- Champagne Hero
- Erina
Thoughts:
Squeezebox has the most consistent ratings and is ready to win third-up, while Champagne Hero profiles as the big improver after a tough on-pace return. Erina is the knockout with blinkers on, a soft map and clear upside, and the rest look safely held unless something spikes unexpectedly.
Race 5 – 3:40PM MIDWAY BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (900M)
- Stratafy
- No Statement
- Welcome Gypsy
Thoughts:
This looks a fast 900 m dash where Stratafy, No Statement and Welcome Gypsy control the speed and hold the key. Stratafy arrives off a sharp Newcastle win and can stalk or lead, No Statement is bombproof on his home deck and rolls forward, and Welcome Gypsy is consistent enough to land just behind them with the gear tweak helping. Others will need the tempo to collapse.
Race 6 – 4:20PM PROVINCIAL BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1850M)
- Sweet Bubbles
- Alabama Blitz
- Mah Ali
Thoughts:
Sweet Bubbles looks the strongest closer with weight relief and a midfield map, while Alabama Blitz is the on-speed danger holding form. Mah Ali and Uncle Harry are knockout chances if the tempo suits.
Race 7 – 4:55PM BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200M)
- I Am Brave
- Cool Storm
- Tonkatsu Goddess
Thoughts:
This is a competitive provincial sprint with a mix of first-uppers and on-speed runners. I Am Brave looks the most progressive with strong closing figures and upside. Cool Storm is the on-pace danger, bringing Highway-grade form and race fitness. Tonkatsu Goddess is the value hope, the highest-rated runner with a strong trial and proven wet-track record.
Race 8 – 5:30PM CONDITIONAL BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1300M)
- Thundering Soul
- Sonofdec
- Oakfield Duke
Thoughts:
Genuine tempo looks assured with leaders rolling along, which should play perfectly for the strong-closing Thundering Soul, who keeps finding the line and gets a handy claim to convert those recent seconds into a win. Right on his heels is Sonofdec, a fresh heavy-track winner who maps to stalk the speed and stick on late. For value, Oakfield Duke returns to his happy hunting ground at Newcastle, and with the 2kg claim offsetting the big weight, he can punch forward and hang tough into the finish.
