RACING: Randwick Best Selection & Value Play 28/2
February 27, 2026
Autumn racing heats up in Sydney with the first two G1s of the carnival; the Verry Elleegant and Surround Stakes. Our analyst is happy to take the short quote for a superstar Godolphin filly and likes a Maher 4yo that ticks a few boxes.Â

Best Selection: R7- Tempted
On a day where there are short odds on offer for some of the countries most exciting gallopers, Tempted looks the most likeable. She was outstanding resuming on the back of 1.1L 2nd to Ka Ying Rising in the Everest last prep when she dominated the colts winning the G3 Eskimo Prince by 1.2L. She comes back to the fillies looking to bank a valuable G1 against a field she has a clear class edge over. Bad luck seems to be the biggest threat but she maps to land 1 pair back getting the run of the race. The $1.65 looks a play on a day where it should pay to be cautious elsewhere.Â

Value Selection: R9- Axius
Axius looks to be putting it all together nine starts into his career and having 5 wins on the board already. He brings residual fitness from a Magic Millions campaign where he produced great figures finishing 3rd in the MM Rising Stars and winning the Snippets. He won his only start on a Heavy and looked great in a recent Warwick Farm tick over trial. He will be suited to settling around midfield from the perfect gate off a hot tempo and gets in really well with only 53.5kg.
