Premier League Football – 2018/2019 Season Preview:
The worlds most exciting football league is back and we can’t wait! Who do our followers think will be the top 4? Relegation candidates? Which team will be the surprise package?
TheSportingBase top 4 :
1st – Liverpool FC – The lethal trio of Mane, Firmino and Salah are back again plus the potential frailties at the back have been strengthened with the addition of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson. Midfielder Naby Keita could be an absolute game-changer, whilst the enigmatic Xherdan Shaqiri will also add strength and depth to a formidable team.
2nd – Manchester City – Defending champions and quite rightly the favourites for the title once again. They’ve got a very similar, settled squad this time around, although they’ve added to their goldmine of attacking talent with the signing of former Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
3rd – Tottenham – Have shrugged their shoulders during the transfer window, putting their faith in the same group that finished third last season. English stars Harry Kane and Dele Alli are coming off impressive World Cup campaigns, while wingback Kevin Trippier is in the form of his life. Fatigue could be an issue for the players from Russia, but we expect a strong season from Spurs.
4th – Chelsea – Have a new manager, a new goalkeeper and a new style of play. Italian Maurizio Sarri’s made the move from Napoli, where he instilled some of the most attractive football in Europe. They’ve splurged big money on Spanish keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, while highly-rated midfielder Jorginho’s also joined the team. Expect results to gather momentum from December onwards as the players adapt to the manager’s new style of play.
Relegation:
Cardiff
Huddersfield
Southampton
Surprise Package:
Fulham – Former Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle, defender Alfie Mawson and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic are all good transactions. Nice’s Ivory Coast midfielder Jean Michael Seri looks a great addition to the side considering the 26-year-old has 18 international caps and was close to a move to Barcelona in 2017. Gifted 18-year old winger Ryan Sessegnon is also one to watch.
