In the 26th of a 32-part series, we will feature all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Today we will look at the Philadelphia Eagles.
Key Off Season Acquisitions
There are five new Eagles starters in 2021. On offense, Philadelphia acquired their biggest splash in picking up wide receiver and 2020 Pro Bowler A.J. Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. Brown of Starkville, Mississippi then signed a four-year contract extension worth $100 million. Last season Brown had 63 catches for 869 yards and five touchdowns.
On defense, the Eagles acquired safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in a trade with the New Orleans Saints. The safety from Cocoa, Florida had 46 combined tackles (32 solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles), four tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, two sacks, three interceptions for 45 yards and seven pass deflections.
Via free agency, the Eagles signed linebacker Kyzir White of Macungie, Pennsylvania to a one-year contract worth $5 million, cornerback James Bradberry of Pleasant Grove, Alabama to a one-year contract worth $7.5 million, and linebacker Haason Reddick to a three-year contract worth $45 million.
White had 144 combined tackles (90 solo tackles and 54 assisted tackles), seven tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, two interceptions for 22 yards, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and one sack last season with the Los Angeles Chargers. Bradberry had 47 combined tackles (37 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles), four interceptions for 19 yards, 17 pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries for 13 yards last season with the New York Giants. Last season with the Carolina Panthers, Reddick had 68 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 18 quarterback hits, 11 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery for 22 yards.
Fantasy Stars
There are two Eagles ranked in the top 10 for their respective position in fantasy pools. Jake Elliott of Western Springs, Illinois is ranked seventh among kickers. Last year he successfully kicked 30 of 33 field goals and all 44 converts, and was selected to his first Pro Bowl.
At tight end, Dallas Goedert of Aberdeen, South Dakota is ranked eighth. Last year he had 56 catches for 830 yards and four touchdowns.
Predicted Finish
The Eagles finished second in the NFC East last year and are set to be there again in 2022. On paper, they are better than Washington and the New York Giants, but not as good as Dallas.
