It is a special night in the National Football League on Friday as the Green Bay Packers are facing the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The game will take place at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo. This is the first time ever that the NFL is having a regular season game in Brazil, and the first time they are playing a game in South America.
There are four additional NFL games this season in Europe. On October 6, the New York Jets are facing the Minnesota Vikings at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Then on October 13, also at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Jacksonville Jaguars are facing the Chicago Bears. A week later on October 20, the Jaguars will play the New England Patriots at London’s Wembley Stadium. Then on November 10, the New York Giants are facing the Carolina Panthers at Munich’s Allianz Arena.
The Packers and Eagles both finished in second place in their respective divisions last year. Green Bay was second in the NFC North with a record of nine wins and eight losses. While Philadelphia was second in the NFC East with a record of 11 wins and six losses. I am predicting the Eagles to win the NFC East and Packers to win the NFC North in 2024.
Corinthians Arena have hosted some prestigious sporting events in the past. They include six games during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, 10 football games during the 2016 Olympic Games, and three games during the 2019 COPA America. At the 2016 Olympic Games, Canada beat Brazil 2-1 to win the bronze medal in women’s football.
