Scottie Scheffler (YouTube)
After not on the 2023 golf calendar, the Houston Open is returning in 2024, with the Texas Children’s Hospital as the primary sponsor. Let’s take a look at the three golfers we like the most for this key tuneup tournament two weeks before the 2024 Masters.
Scottie Scheffler
The world number one is the dominant favourite and it is easy to explain why. Scheffler has won the last two tournaments he has participated in. He won the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational by shooting a four-round score of -15 with ease, and followed that up with a successful defense of the Players Championship. One must remember that even though Scheffler is a native of Ridgewood, New Jersey, he lives in Dallas, Texas, and has had success in the Lone Star State in the past. It is in Texas where Scheffler won the 2022 World Matchplay Championship. In Houston, Scheffler has also had prior success. He finished second to Jason Kokrak in 2021.

Tony Finau
The World Number 30 from Salt Lake City, Utah has won in Houston before as he was victorious in 2022. Finau shot a winning score of -16, and beat his nearest competitor, Tyson Alexander by four strokes. Finau will try to rebound after missing the cut at the Valspar Championship. It was his first missed cut in 2024.

Jake Knapp
The Mexico Open champion from Costa Mesa, California is considered a contender because he has done very well this season when hitting greens in regulation. This could benefit him this week in Houston, as the Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course is known for its wide fairways.
