Our three best tips for the 2024 3M Championship

There will not be a lot of focus on the 3M Championship this weekend in Minnesota. Many of the world’s best golfers are preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and are staying in Europe after competing in the British Open. With the Olympic Games beginning on Wednesday with soccer and rugby sevens, and in full swing by the weekend, there will be no doubt extremely low television ratings when it comes to golf.  But here are the tips for the 3M Championship.

Tony Finau

The world number 19 from Salt Lake City, Utah has won the 3M Open in the past. In 2022, Finau posted an impressive score of -17, and beat Sungjae Im of South Korea and Emiliano Grillo of Argentina by three strokes. Finau did miss the cut at the British Open, but made the cut at nine consecutive PGA tournaments leading up to the final major of the season.

Sam Burns

The world number 30 from Shreveport, Louisiana is a five-time PGA Tour champion, and like Finau, is looking for his first win of 2024. Burns’s best result this year was a third place finish in Phoenix.

Akhshay Bhatia

Bhatia of Northridge, California, is one of two American golfers of Indian descent who are rising up through the golf ranks. The other is Sahith Theegala of Orange, California. Bhatia is the world  number 28, and has made significant improvements this year. He opened the year at 110, and has climbed up the rankings by a remarkable 82 spots. Bhatia’s win came at the Valero Texas Open.
