SPYWIRE
There’s another win coming for him. In a surprising move his jockey John Allen decided to give up the lead and take a trail. The move had some upside as he travelled well and looked the winner before the turn but he couldn’t get a run in the straight. Allen when quizzed by the stewards said his mount wouldn’t settle early and he thought that would be the appropriate way to make him do so.

HAALAND
Lightly raced galloper showing a lot of staying potential. He worked home strongly from a long way back to finish third behind Strawberry Rock in the staying contest and he kept on going after the line. Robert Hickmott has a horse who could win a nice staying race one day.

REGAL AZMON
It was a nightmare watch for his supporters as he got stuck in on the fence after being slowly away. He got shuffled back to third last on the turn. He still looked a chance though when Brian Higgins went looking for a run out wide on the turn but he was held up for a run and then didn’t get the one he wanted. He still finished off well and was beaten only 0.4 lengths.
BASILINNA
Another good run for this promising stayer. She stretched out well in the closing stages to finish sixth on a track which didn’t really suit her. Back to fillies grade and a spacious circuit will see her hard to beat when she next runs.

JOHNNY ROCKER
Nick Ryan has this former Queensland galloper flying. What else can you say after his amazing second behind Imperatriz where he took significant ground off her in the closing stages. A race such as the Goodwood would suit him.
