Baltimore Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg of New Braunfels, Texas will be out long term with an elbow injury according to the Associated Press on Monday. Westburg has a partial ligament tear in his elbow and will not be available to play for the Orioles until May.
It is one of two significant injuries that Westburg is currently dealing with. He is already out with an oblique injury which is forcing him to miss spring training.
In 2025, Westburg batted .265 with 17 home runs and 41 runs batted in. During 85 games, 328 at bats and 352 plate appearances, he scored 589 runs and had 87 hits, 10 doubles, one triple, one stolen base, 17 walks, 150 total bases, one sacrifice fly, an on base percentage of .313 and a slugging percentage of .457. Â The sacrifice fly came in a 6-0 Orioles win over the Tampa Bay Rays on September 23.
Westburg was an American League All-Star in 2024. That season he batted .264 with 18 home runs and 63 runs batted in.
Westburg’s temporarily replacement at the hot corner will be Thairo Estrada of Bejuma, Venezuela. Estrada signed a minor league contract with the Orioles on Monday.
The Orioles are coming off a dreadful season where they were shockingly last in the American League East with a record of 75 wins and 87 losses for a winning percentage of .463. The franchise has already tried to improve their team in the offseason with the acquisitions of starting pitcher Chris Bassitt, first baseman Pete Alonso, closer Ryan Helsley, infielder Nick Allen, outfielders Taylor Ward and Leody Taveras and relief pitcher Andrew Kittredge.Â
