February 17, 2023
The Denver Nuggets set the NBA record for most consecutive wins when one of their players records a triple-double. On Wednesday, the Nuggets won their 25th straight game when Nikiola Jokic of Sombor, Serbia has a triple-double. Jokic, the two-time NBA MVP, had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in a 118-109 Nuggets win over the Dallas Mavericks from Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets broke the record previously set by the Los Angeles Lakers, who won 24 straight games when Magic Johnson of Lansing, Michigan had a triple-double from 1984 to 1987.
Of the 25 triple doubles during the streak, four of the wins came in 2021-22, and 21 have come in 2022-23. Jokic in fact leads the NBA this season with 21 triple doubles. He also led the NBA with 19 triple doubles in 2021-22. The fact that Jokic already has more triple doubles in 2022-23 than 2021-22, makes him a strong favourite to win the NBA MVP award for a third straight season.

Jokic now has 97 triple doubles in his NBA career. That is the sixth most of all-time. He only trails Utah Jazz point guard Russell Westbrook of Long Beach. The Nuggets enter the NBA All-Star break, as the best team in the West at 41 wins and 18 losses. They have a five game lead over the second place Memphis Grizzlies.
