Kevvie gets his man: Adam Reynolds takes up Broncos’ bumper $2.2m deal
May 12, 2021

The long and winding Adam Reynolds saga is all but over — the Rabbitohs superstar is all set to head north next season to link up with the Brisbane Broncos, in a huge boost for Kevin Walter’s struggling team.
The South Sydney veteran has reportedly agreed to a rich $2.25 million deal to join the once-heavyweight club at Red Hill. The multi-year deal will see him stay north of the border until at least 2024, earning $750k a year to lead a young Broncos side.
As The Sporting Base understands, no deal has officially been signed, but an agreement should be inked up and rubber-stamped by the end of the week.
Reynolds was courted by the Broncos, the Sharks, and his current NRL club the Bunnies for the past few weeks, with his current Rabbitohs contract set to expire at the end of the 2021 season.
The 31-year-old must pass a medical before the deal is confirmed.
The wheels are already in motion, medical green light or no, however, with Reynolds telling his Souths teammates that he would be leaving Redfern behind during training on Wednesday. The local junior was reportedly “very eager” to remain in the cardinal and myrtle for the next few years, but the Sydney club wouldn’t budge on a one-year offer.
Brisbane and Cronulla were both equally skittish about the halfback’s age, though that kept the two bidding clubs in the three-year range rather than vying for a one-season package.
Reynolds played 214 games for the Rabbitohs since his 2012 debut.
