Vernon Davis performing on American reality TV series Dancing with the Stars

From 2006 to 2019, Vernon Davis of Washington, D.C. was simply one of the very best tight ends in the National Football League. He played for the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins from 2006 to 2019. In 2009, Davis led the NFL in touchdowns with 13 in a year he was also selected to the Pro Bowl.

However, after missing most of the 2019 NFL season in Washington with a concussion, Davis announced his retirement from professional football on February 2. He continues to be very active, and this fall joined the American reality television program, “Dancing with the Stars“.

Davis has joined up with Australian Latin dancer Peta Murgatroyd. The 34-year-old native of Auckland, New Zealand moved to Australia as an infant. Murgatroyd was a ballerina until 16, when she took up Latin dancing with great success. Among her accomplishments were a second place finish at the Australian Open and a third place finish in the under-21 division at the Blackpool Dance Festival in England.

Since 2011, Murgatroyd has been a regular on Dancing with the Stars, and has performed with many American professional sports athletes in addition to Davis. They include former Los Angeles Lakers star Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest and now Metta Sandiford-Artest), former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, former St. Louis Rams draft pick and defensive end Michael Sam, and former Los Angeles Clippers forward Lamar Odom.

Currently, Murgatroyd and Davis are still in contention. However, there chances of proceeding in the event is in jeopardy. That is because Murgatroyd is battling a neck injury.
