Top five storylines from week 4 of 2021 NFL season

The National Football League had some stunning upsets and record breaking performances from week four. Here are five of the top headlines.

5) Andy Reid makes NFL coaching history.

In the Kansas City Chiefs’ 42-30 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Andy Reid became the first NFL head coach ever to win 100 games with two different teams (regular season and playoffs). Ironically, the other team he won 100 games with were the Eagles. Reid won 140 games with the Eagles from 1999 to 2012, and 100 games with the Chiefs since 2013.

4) Trevon Diggs off to a great start for the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys are off to a solid 3-1 start, and a major reason has been because of the play of cornerback Trevon Diggs of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Diggs has five interceptions, the most by any Cowboys player after the first four games of the season. On Sunday, Diggs had two interceptions for 23 yards in a 36-28 Dallas win over the Carolina Panthers. Diggs had his first pick six of his career last week in a convincing 41-21 Dallas win over Philadelphia.

3) New York teams come up with shocking upsets.

Not many expected New York to win this week. Not one, but both New York teams came through with overtime victories despite both being 6.5 point underdogs. The Jets beat the Tennessee Titans 27-24, while the Giants beat the New Orleans Saints 27-21. On a personal note, I am out in my loser pool, and two of my three winners’ pools.

2) Arizona Cardinals remain only team undefeated.

After the first four weeks of the season, the Arizona Cardinals are the only team at 4-0. On Sunday, Kyler Murray completed 24 of 32 passes for 268 yards, while Chase Edmonds had 12 carries for 120 yards as Arizona beat the Los Angeles Rams 37-20. The Rams entered the game also at 3-0 before recording their first loss of the season.

1) Tom Brady becomes all-time passing leader.

Tom Brady became the NFL all-time leader in passing yards on Sunday in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 19-17 win over the New England Patriots. He set the record on a 28-yard pass to Mike Evans in the first quarter. Brady, who ended the day with 269 yards, now has 80, 560 in his career. Drew Brees is second on the list with 80,358 passing yards. Brady also became the fourth quarterback ever to beat all 32 NFL teams in his career. He joins Peyton Manning, Brees, and Brett Favre.
