Top five rookies from week five of the 2022 NFL season

Week five is in the books in the National Football League and for the second straight week, New York Jets running back Breece Hall of Omaha, Nebraska is number one on our list of rookies on winning teams. Here are our top five rookies from week five!
5) Chris Olave–New Orleans Saints
For the second straight week the Seattle Seahawks defense was poor on the road. On Sunday, Chris Olave of San Diego, California helped snap New Orleans’s three game losing streak with four catches for 54 yards and one touchdown in a 39-32 Saints win over the Seattle Seahawks.
4) Bailey Zappe–New England Patriots
The Patriots’ defense was exceptional on Sunday, but the offense deserved some of the credit too in a 29-0 romp over the Detroit Lions. Patriots rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe of Victoria, Texas completed 17 of 21 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown. Zappe’s touchdown pass was for 24 yards to Jakobi Meyers with one minute and 51 seconds left in the third quarter and put the Patriots up 26-0 at the time.

The Bills’s fifth round pick out of Boise State had three catches for 75 yards and one touchdown on Sunday in Buffalo’s 38-3 romp over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shakir’s touchdown catch for 24 yards (his first career touchdown catch) put the Bills up 31-3 with one minute and two seconds left in the first half.

2) Dameon Pierce–Houston Texans
The Texans’s fourth round pick out of the University of Florida had 26 rushes for 99 yards and one touchdown, along with three catches for 14 yards in a 13-6 Houston win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was the third straight game Pierce had a rushing touchdown. Pierce’s touchdown was for one yard on Sunday, was in fact the game-winning touchdown, and put the Texans up 13-6 with three minutes and 11 seconds left in the contest.

Hall has all of a sudden become a focal point of the New York Jets offense. On Sunday, Hall had 18 rushes for 97 rushing yards and one touchdown, and also two catches for 100 receiving yards in a 40-17 Jets romp over the Miami Dolphins. The 197 total yards were a Jets franchise record by a rookie in one game.
