Odell Beckham Jr. signs with the Rams

Odell Beckham Jr., also simply known throughout the NFL as OBJ, has signed with the Los Angeles Rams. On Thursday, Beckham signed a one-year deal up to $4.25 million according to Cameron DaSilva of USA Today.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Beckham Jr. is joining his third National Football League franchise. He was with the New York Giants for five years from 2014 to 2018, before there seasons in Cleveland from 2019 to 2021. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver never really played at the same level in Cleveland as he did in the bright lights of New York, and in the last season, had his relationship with quarterback Baker Mayfield sour. As a result, Beckham Jr. was released by the Browns last week.

This season, the Beckham Jr. caught 17 passes for 232 yards and zero touchdowns. Despite being unproductive, Beckham Jr., was still second on the Browns in receiving yards (only behind tight end David Njoku) at the time of his release.

What Beckham Jr. brings to the Rams is swagger. Known for his dramatic receptions, he caught one of the most amazing catches in NFL history in a 31-28 Giants loss to the Dallas Cowboys on November 23, 2014. It was a one-handed grab where he extended his arm backwards to make the catch.

Also in 2014, Beckham Jr. led the NFL in receiving yards per game (108.8) in his rookie year, and in 2016, led the NFL with 13.5 yards per touch. The Rams are in second in the NFC West at seven wins and two losses. They only trail the Arizona Cardinals, who are at eight wins and one loss.

It should be noted that since the Browns released Beckham Jr., they had their best game of the season. This past Sunday, Cleveland went into Cincinnati and upset the Bengals 41-16. It was a huge game for Browns wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, who had 86 yards receiving and one touchdown. With the win, the Browns improved to five wins and four losses.
