NFL reschedules numerous games due to coronavirus

The National Football League has had to completely restructure its schedule due to coronavirus. The New England Patriots were to play the Denver Broncos this past weekend, but because of multiple cases for the Patriots, the NFL has had to move the Patriots and Broncos game, in addition to many other games on the 2020 schedule.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Patriots will now play the Broncos in week six. The Patriots were to have a bye week, while the Broncos were to play the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins will now play the New York Jets on Sunday in week six, while the Dolphins will play the Broncos in week 11 on November 22.

The Jets were to play the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. However, they will now head to southern California instead, and also on November 22. The Chargers now have an unexpected week six bye.

The Dolphins also have a different bye week. They were supposed to get the bye in week 11, and now it is in week seven.

Another game that has been changed is the tilt between the Dolphins and Chargers. They were to play in week seven on October 25 in Miami, and now they are playing in week 10 on November 15 in Miami. That is because the Chargers are now hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 25. The Jaguars and Chargers were to play November 1, but the Chargers now have to play the Broncos that week, so the Jaguars have their bye moved from October 25 to November 1.  The Broncos and Chargers game is three weeks earlier now as they were scheduled to play November 22.

Meanwhile, the Bills and the Chiefs will now play Monday afternoon. They were scheduled to play Thursday, but with the Bills playing the Titans tonight instead of this past Sunday, they need time to prepare.

This report has given me a headache. It is amazing how one positive case of coronavirus impacts so many games. Let’s hope there will not be too many more games rescheduled.
