Colts sign two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Eric Fisher
May 12, 2021

The Indianapolis Colts have signed offensive tackle Eric Fisher of Rochester, Michigan to a one-year deal worth $9.4 million according to Kevin Patra of nfl.com. Fisher made National Football League headlines in March when he was released by the Chiefs, even though he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020.
Fisher cannot be blamed for the horrible performance by the Chiefs offensive line in the Super Bowl. That is because he was already out with a torn Achilles which he suffered in the AFC Championship, a 38-24 Chiefs win over the Buffalo Bills. At the time of the injury, I felt his absence would be “gigantic,” and I was proven correct, as the Chiefs were unable to protect their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the biggest NFL game of the year.
Fisher’s claim to fame was being the first overall pick by the Chiefs in the 2013 NFL Draft. He started out at right tackle, and then moved to left tackle. Fisher was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2018, and was part of the Chiefs team that won Super Bowl LIV the following season. The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20.
This will be a different Indianapolis Colts team in 2021. For one, they will have a new starting quarterback as Carson Wentz takes over from Philip Rivers, who retired at age 39 back in January. In addition to Fisher, the Colts signed three other offensive linemen from other teams. They signed tackle Sam Tevi from the Los Angeles Chargers to a one-year deal worth $2.51 million, guard Chris Reed from the Carolina Panthers to a one-year deal worth $1.1275 million, and left tackle Julie’n Davenport from the Miami Dolphins to a one-year deal worth $1.1275 million.
