Chargers sign linebacker Kyle Van Noy

The Los Angeles Chargers have made another move to try and improve their football club for the 2022 National Football League regular season. On Thursday, they signed linebacker Kyle Van Noy to a contract.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed according to ESPN. Van Noy joins linebacker Khalil Mack, and cornerback J.C. Jackson, who Los Angeles acquired via a trade with the Chicago Bears and via free agency respectively.Â
A native of Reno, Nevada, Van Noy is joining his fourth NFL team. He has previously played for the Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins. While with the Patriots he won two Super Bowls.
Last season in New England, Van Noy played 16 games and had 66 combined tackles (42 solo tackles and 24 assisted tackles), five tackles for a loss, seven quarterback hits, five sacks, one interception for 35 yards and one touchdown, 10 pass deflections, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

The pick six, his first in his NFL career, came in a 25-0 Patriots shutout win over the Atlanta Falcons on November 18. The forced fumbles came in a 45-7 Patriots win over the Cleveland Browns on November 14, and in a 36-13 Patriots win over the Tennessee Titans on November 28. The two forced fumbles and interception return for a touchdown came in a very impressive Patriots stretch of the season where they won three times in 10 games.
For his career, Van Noy has 424 combined tackles (288 solo tackles and 136 assisted tackles), 39 tackles for a loss, 54 quarterback hits, three interceptions for 35 yards, one interception return for a touchdown, 26 pass deflections, nine forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries for 96 yards and two additional touchdowns from fumble recoveries. Van Noy is 31 years old, played for Brigham Young University, and was the Lions’s second round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
