There are new people in charge of the Chicago Bears. On Tuesday, the Bears named Ryan Poles of Canadigua, New York their new general manager according to Usayd Koshul of Empire Sports Media, and Matt Eberflus of Toledo, Ohio as their next head coach according to Josh Alper of NBC Sports on Thursday. This past season, Poles had been the executive director of player personnel for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Eberflus had been the defensive co-ordinator of the Indianapolis Colts.
The Bears had a losing record this past year of six wins and 11 losses. They decided to fire head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on January 10. With Nagy in charge, the Bears posted a record over they had a record of 34 wins and 31 losses. He also guided the Bears to the National Football League playoffs twice, but was unable to win either one of his postseason contests. In 2019, the Bears lost 16-15 to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wildcard game despite having a regular season record of 12 wins and four losses. The game has been coined the “Double Doink Game” because in Bears kicker Cody Parkey’s final play field goal attempt, the football hit the upright and the crossbar before not going through the uprights. Then last season, the Bears were spanked 21-9 by the New Orleans Saints in their opening playoff game.

One major reason for the firing was the fact the Bears struggled offensively in 2021. Their 311 points were the third least in the conference. Only the Carolina Panthers (304 points) and the New York Giants (258 points) scored less.
