NFL Weekly Preview Week 16: Key Injuries, Player Statistical Projections & Possible Upsets Jonathan Taylor (YouTube)

The Christmas weekend is upon us in the National Football League. Here are the key injuries, player statistical projections and possible upsets for Week 16.

Key Injuries

There were two key injuries to the running back position in Week 15 as Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts and Dameon Pierce of the Houston Texans both went down with ankle injuries. For Taylor, it was a season-ending high ankle sprain. Even though the Colts and Texans are out of playing contention, the injuries here are serious for fantasy owners who are in the playoffs.

Taylor only had 861 rushing yards in 2022 after leading the NFL with 1811 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns in 2021. Pierce has 939 yards in his rookie season with the Texans.

Player Statistical Projections

After being the top rated quarterback in Week 14, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills is the top rated quarterback in Week 15. He is projected to get 270 passing yards, 38 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Chicago.

At running back, Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans is ranked number one when Tennessee plays Houston. He is projected to get 98 rushing yards, 11 receiving yards and one touchdown. Earlier this season, Henry had 219 rushing yards for the Titans in a 17-10 Tennessee win over the Texans.

At wide receiver, the top rated player for the week is Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. He is projected to get eight catches for 117 yards and one touchdown in a juicy matchup Saturday morning against the New York Giants.

Possible Upsets

I like two underdogs this week. First, I like the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-8) to beat the New York Jets (7-7) on Thursday. Second, I like the Las Vegas Raiders (6-8) to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-8) on Christmas Eve night. The reason I like the Jaguars and Raiders is because they have significant momentum after coming away with dramatic victories in week 15.
