NFL Weekly Preview Week 10 2023: Key Injuries, Difference Makers & Projected Upsets

The tenth week of the 2023 National Football League season is just hours away. Here are the key injuries, difference makers and projected upsets.

NFL Injuries

In week nine, we saw two significant season ending injuries. New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina is gone for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, and Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers of Jackson, Mississippi is gone for the year with an Achilles injury. Akers was traded to Minnesota earlier this season from the Los Angeles Rams.

The next Giants quarterback is Tommy DeVito of Livingston, New Jersey. Remember, a week ago DeVito did nothing against the Las Vegas Raiders, and now he has a tough Dallas Cowboys defense in week 10! Can someone say Yikes? In Minnesota, fantasy owners like myself who have running back Alexander Mattison of San Bernardino, California on their teams should benefit by the fact that Akers is hurt, because Mattison will be back as the clear number one at running back again.

Fantasy Stars

One would think Dak Prescott is the top rated quarterback of the week, but he is actually third in the Yahoo! Rankings behind Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals. Allen is projected to get 258 passing yards, 21 rushing yards and two touchdowns on Monday night against the Denver Broncos. At wide receiver, the top rated receiver is Stefon Diggs, Allen’s teammate. Diggs, a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, is projected to get seven catches for 86 yards and one touchdown. At running back, Christian McCaffrey of Castle Rock, Colorado is projected to be number one. The 49ers superstar is expected to get 108 total yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Projected Upsets

A week ago I had six projected upsets (right with Minnesota and Washington). In week 10, I am picking the Vikings as an underdog again. This time Minnesota will face New Orleans. The way Joshua Dobbs played a week ago against the Atlanta Falcons, you think he will be great for another time.
