The New York Knicks’s outstanding run in the 2026 National Basketball Association postseason is continuing. New York has now won 12 consecutive playoff games after winning game one of the 2026 NBA Finals on Wednesday night.
The Knicks entered game one as a 4.5 point underdog, but came away with a 10 point victory in a 105-95 win over the San Antonio Spurs at San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center. New York won three straight games over the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, swept the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals, and swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals prior to getting in the win column again.
New York won the second, third and fourth quarter after being outscored 27-19 in the first quarter. The Knicks outscored the Spurs 57-40 in the second half.
What we saw on Wednesday was continued postseason excellence from guard Jalen Brunson of New Brunswick, New Jersey. Brunson scored 30 points as he made 12 of 31 field goal attempts and all four free throw attempts. It was the sixth time in the 2026 postseason he reached the 30 point plateau.
Three other Knicks players reached double digits in points. Center Karl-Anthony Towns of Edison, New Jersey had 18 points, power forward OG Anunoby of London, England had 17 points, and shooting guard Landry Shamet of Kansas City, Missouri had 13 points off the bench. Towns had the double-double as he had 12 rebounds. Even though small forward Josh Hart of Silver Spring, Maryland only scored three points, he had a significant impact for the Knicks in other categories. He led the Knicks in rebounds (15), assists (six), and steals (four).
