The National Basketball Association is just under two weeks away, and it is once again time to preview every NBA franchise. I will be covering the teams in the Eastern Conference and my colleague, Joel Beatton, will feature teams in the Western Conference. Today we are featuring the Milwaukee Bucks.
Key Acquisition
The Knicks signed shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo of Newark, Delaware to a four year contract worth $50 million on July 8. The five-year veteran is expected to back up Quentin Grimes of Houston, Texas. DiVincenzo is joining his fourth National Basketball Association franchise after four seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks (2018 to 2022), 25 games with the Sacramento Kings (2022), and one season with the Golden State Warriors (2022 to 2023). He was on the Bucks team that won the 2021 NBA Finals, but only played in three postseason games against the Miami Heat because of an ankle injury. In 2022-23 with the Warriors, DiVincenzo averaged 9.4 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game. He had a field goal percentage of .435, three-point percentage of .397, and a free throw percentage of .817.
Fantasy Stars
The Knicks do not have a single player ranked in the top 10 in any position in fantasy basketball in 2022-23.
Projected Finish
Heading into the 2023-24 NBA season, the Knicks do have solid skill in their starting five. There is no doubt that Canadian RJ Barrett of Toronto, Ontario is developing into a dependable small forward, while point guard Jalen Brunson of New Brunswick, New Jersey and power forward Julius Randle of Dallas, Texas are providing the Knicks with consistent minutes. New York should get into the playoffs if their core group stays healthy, with a third place spot in the Atlantic Division realistic at this time.
