New York Giants fire head coach Joe Judge
January 13, 2022

The New York Giants will have a new head coach for the 2022 National Football League season. On Tuesday, the Giants decided to fire Joe Judge according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Over the last two seasons, the Giants struggled mightily on the football field winning only 10 for 33 games with Judge in charge. This past season scoring points was a major problem for New York. They only had 258 points. The only team with fewer points were the Jacksonville Jaguars with 253 points.
Scoring points was a major problem for the Giants in Judge’s first year in New York in 2020 too. They only had 280 points, with the New York Jets the only team with fewer points with 243.

Judge was initially hired as the Giants head coach on January 8, 2020. He had previously spent eight seasons as an assistant coach with the New England Patriots working under Bill Belichick as their special teams assistant, special teams co-ordinator and wide receivers coach.
Since the weekend, four other NFL coaches have been fired. They were Vic Fangio by the Denver Broncos, Mike Zimmer of the Minnesota Vikings, Matt Nagy of the Chicago Bears, and Brian Flores of the Miami Dolphins. Of the five firings, the most surprising firing is Flores. That is because Flores became the first head coach in NFL history to be fired after winning seven straight games in the season preceding the job loss. What however did not help Flores’ cause was a seven game losing streak right before the seven game winning streak.
