Nets trade Dennis Schroder to Warriors for De’Anthony Melton

According to nba.com on Sunday, the Brooklyn Nets have traded point guard Dennis Schroder of Braunschweig, Germany to the Golden State Warriors. In addition to Schroder, the Warriors receive a second round pick in the 2025 National Basketball Association draft. The Nets meanwhile receive guard De’Anthony Melton of North Hollywood, California, point guard Reece Beekman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and three second round draft picks (2026, 2028 and 2029).
Schroder is joining his eighth NBA franchise. He has previously played five seasons with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013 to 21018, two seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2018 to 2020, two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers (2020-21 and 2022-23), shared the 2021-22 season with the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets, part of the 2023-24 season with the Toronto Raptors and two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets in 2024.
In 23 games this season with the Nets, Schroder averaged 18.4 points per game, 6.6 assists per game, three rebounds per game, and 1.1 steals per game. He also had a field goal percentage of .452, three point percentage of .387, and a free throw percentage of .889.
Melton is joining his fifth NBA franchise. He previously played his rookie NBA season with the Phoenix Suns in 2018-19, three NBA seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2019 to 2022, two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2022 to 2024, and one season with the Golden State Warriors from 2024 to 2025.
In 2024-25, Melton is averaging 10.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game after only six games and two starts in Golden State. He had a field goal percentage of .407, three point percentage of .371, and a free throw percentage of .625.
