Nets’ big three come up big against Boston

The Brooklyn Nets are in the Eastern Conference semifinals where they will face the Milwaukee Bucks. On Tuesday, the Nets eliminated the Celtics with a 123-109 win in game five of the best out of seven series. Brooklyn, which won the series four games to one, had an historic series from their big three–Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving.
Just how dominant were they? The trio set a NBA record for the most combined points on average by three players for one team in a series according to ESPN. Harden, Durant and Irving recorded an average of 85.2 points per game. Harden averaged 27.8 points per game. Durant averaged 32.6 points per game, and Irving averaged 24.8 points per game.
In game one of the series on May 22 in Brooklyn, Durant had 32 points, Irving had 29 points, and Harden had 21 points, in a 104-93 Brooklyn win. In game two of the series on May 25 in Brooklyn, Durant had 26 points, Harden had 20 points, and Irving had 15 points in a 130-108 Nets win.

In game three of the series on May 28, a 125-119 Celtics win in Boston, Harden had 41 points, Durant had 39 points, and Irving had 16 points. The most dynamic offensive player in the game however was Jayson Tatum of Boston, who had 50 points.
In game four of the series on May 30, a 141-126 Nets win in Boston, Durant had 42 points, Irving had 39 points, and Harden had 23 points. In game five of the series on Tuesday, Harden had 34 points, Irving had 25 points and Durant had 24 points. It should be noted that Nets small forward Joe Harris also had a strong series, as he averaged 13.4 points per game.
