For the second time in her golf career, Nelly Korda of Bradenton, Florida is a major champion. On Sunday in The Woodlands, Texas, Korda shot a four round score of -13 to win the 2024 Chevron Championship. Korda’s other major title came at the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship.
At the Chevron Championship over the last four days, Korda beat Maja Stark of Sweden by two strokes. Stark had a four round score of -11. Then in third place and three strokes back were two-time major champion Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada and Lauren Coughlin of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Henderson won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and the 2022 Evian Championship.
In round one, Korda had six birdies and two bogeys for an opening round score of four-under-par 68. She birdied the fourth, sixth, eighth, ninth, 14th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the second and 10th holes. In round two, Korda had six birdies, one bogeys, and one double bogey for a Friday score of three-under-par 69. She birdied the second, fourth, eighth, ninth, 13th, 18th holes, double bogeyed the first hole, and bogeyed the seventh hole. In round three, Korda had three birdies and zero bogeys for her second straight day posting a score of -3. She birdied the first, fifth, and eighth holes.
