Nikola Jokic becomes third NBA player with 40 points, 25 rebounds, 10 assists in a game

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic of Sombor, Serbia, the two-time NBA MVP, became the third player in NBA history on Sunday to have 40 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists in the same game as Denver defeated the Charlotte Hornets 119-115 at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
Jokic’s statistical line was 40 points, 27 rebounds, and 10 assists. The 27 rebounds were the second most rebounds in a game this season. The only player with more boards in one game in 2022-23 is Croatian Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Clippers, who had 29 rebounds in a 114-100 Los Angeles win over the Indiana Pacers on November 27.
The two other players to have 40 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists in one game are Wilt Chamberlain of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Elgin Baylor of Washington, D.C. Chamberlain accomplished the feat four times. The first time was with the San Francisco Warriors in a 134-132 Warriors loss to the Detroit Pistons on February 13, 1963. Chamberlain had 51 points, 29 rebounds and 11 assists. He then had 45 points, 33 rebounds and 10 assists in a 123-122 Warriors win over the Cincinnati Royals on March 3, 1963, 42 points, 30 rebounds and 10 assists with the Philadelphia 76ers in a 149-118 76ers win over the Baltimore Bullets on February 24, 1967, and 53 points, 32 rebounds and 14 assists with the 76ers in a 158-128 76ers win over the Los Angeles Lakers on March 18, 1968. Baylor meanwhile had 52 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists for the Lakers in a 137-136 Lakers win over the St. Louis Hawks on December 13, 1961.

On the season, Jokic is averaging 25.2 points, 10.9 rebounds per game, and nine assists per game. He has a field goal percentage of .621, three-point percentage of .318, and free throw percentage of .802.
The Nuggets meanwhile are tied for second in the Western Conference at 18 wins and 11 losses. They are one game back of the Memphis Grizzlies, who are at 19 wins and 10 losses.
