Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic is one of the very best all-around players in the NBA. On Monday, the star Slovenian guard recorded his 41st career National Basketball Association triple-double, as he had 20 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in a 104-102 Dallas win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
To put Doncic’s triple double into perspective, one must realize one thing. He now has more triple doubles than all other Mavericks in franchise history combined according to ESPN. The Mavericks player with the second most triple doubles all-time is Jason Kidd, who has 21 triple doubles. Kidd is now the Mavericks head coach.
The triple-double for Doncic on Monday was his fifth triple double of the 2021-22 season. He also had 32 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds in a 123-109 Dallas win over the San Antonio Spurs on November 12, 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 114-96 Dallas loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 29, 22 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds in a 113-99 Dallas win over the Chicago Bulls on January 9, and 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 112-85 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on January 14.
On the season, Doncic is averaging 24.6 points per game, 8.8 assists per game, and 8.6 rebounds per game. He has a field goal percentage of .431, a three-point percentage of .289, and a free-throw percentage of .740.
There are a couple of criticisms to Doncic’s overall game at the moment. Currently his .289 three-point percentage is a career worst. Last year he was at .350. Also, Doncic is averaging a career-worst 4.5 turnovers per game. The Mavericks are currently at 25 wins and 19 losses and are in fifth place in the Western Conference.
