Golden State Warriors reach NBA Finals for the eighth time

For the eighth time in franchise history, the Golden State Warriors are in the NBA Finals. On Thursday, the Warriors defeated the Dallas Mavericks 120-110 in game five of the Western Conference Finals to win the best out of seven series four games to one.
The Warriors previously reached the NBA Finals in 1956, 1975, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. They were victorious in 1956, 1975, 2015, 2017 and 2018, but lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and then the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
On Thursday, the Warriors’ leading contributor was guard Klay Thompson, who notched 32 points. Six Warriors players reached double digits in scoring as Andrew Wiggins had 18 points, Draymond Green had 17 points, Jordan Poole had 16 points, Stephen Curry had 15 points and Kevan Looney had 10 points. Wiggins and Looney had double-doubles as Looney had 18 rebounds and Wiggins had 10 boards.

The Warriors’ best quarter in game two was the second quarter. In these 12 minutes, they outscored Dallas 41-29 and entered the half leading Dallas 69-52.
According to ESPN, the Warriors have now won a remarkable 18 straight series against the Western Conference. That is the longest win streak against a single conference in NBA history.
The Warriors will now play the winner of the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat in the 2022 NBA Finals. Heading into Friday night’s action at the Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, the Celtics lead the best out of seven series three games to two. In game five on Wednesday in south Florida, the Celtics took the series lead with a 93-80 win in Miami. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics in scoring with 25 points.
