NBA Fantasy Preview 2021-22: Golden State Warriors

In a 30-part series leading up to the start of the 2021-22 National Basketball Association season, we will take a look at each NBA franchise from a fantasy perspective. The 10th team we will review is the Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors missed the 2021 NBA playoffs this past season despite a remarkable year from their star point guard, Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio. Just how remarkable was Curry this past year? Well, he not only led the NBA in points with 2015, he also led the NBA in three-points made with 337. In five games, Curry made 46 three-point shots. No one in NBA history has ever made more three-pointers in a five-game stretch.
Curry’s 2924 fantasy points*, ranks him first among point guards, first among shooting guards, and second among fantasy basketball players overall. Only Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets ranks ahead of Curry with 3198 fantasy points. Also in 2020-21, Curry had a field goal percentage of .482, free throw percentage of .916, 345 rebounds, 363 assists and 77 steals.
Another Warriors player worth considering is veteran big man Draymond Green of Saginaw, Michigan. Green who is 21st among centers and 25th among power forwards with 1420 fantasy points, is a fantasy asset because of his high assist totals. Green’s 558 assists ranked him second last season among power forwards and centers. The only power forward or center with more assists was Jokic with 599 helpers.
Be careful in taking two other Warriors players. Swingman Andrew Wiggins of Thornhill, Ontario, Canada is generating controversy for not wanting to be vaccinated, while we still do not know how long it will take before Klay Thompson returns to the lineup. Thompson has had separate injuries to his anterior cruciate ligament and Achilles’ tendon, which has forced him out of the Warriors’ lineup the last two years.
