Moonee Valley Preview: Cummings Sprinter Ready For First Group 1 Win

GODOLPHIN is hoping that their sprinter Paulele can secure his first Group 1 win in Friday night’s Moir Stakes (1000M) at The Valley and secure for himself a spot on their stallion roster.

Godolphin and Cummings dominated racing last weekend winning eight races between Caulfield and Randwick last Saturday and the trainer is confident Paulele can continue their winning streak.

Paulele flies fresh having won four of his five first-up runs and he will also have the benefit of champion Sydney jockey James McDonald riding.

He has finished second at his past two runs which were in Group 1 races in Brisbane in the Doomben 10,000 and then the Stradbroke Handicap.

Paulele also won at his debut as a two-year-old at The Valley over the 1000m distance.

“We are pleased with him leading into the Moir, it looks like a race with plenty of pressure, but he’ll be thereabouts and will be running a big race,” Cummings predicted.

“He’s got the look about him that he’s ready to charge first-up like he has been every other preparation,” Cummings said.

Paulele is a $4.20 equal favourite with the Robert Heathcote trained Rothfire in the Moir Stakes with TopSport.
