Miyu Yamashita of Neyagawa, Japan is the leader after three rounds of the 2025 AIG Women’s British Open. Her lead has dropped from three strokes to one stroke heading into the final round on Sunday.
Yamashita is at -9, and has the lead despite being over par on Saturday. Yamashita shot a score of two-over-par. She had four bogeys and two birdies. Yamashita had bogeys on the fifth, 10th, 14th and 16th holes, and birded the 11th and 12th holes. In an interesting statistic, Yamashita and Takeda, who were first and second respectively after round two, both were two-over-par on Saturday after scores of 74. They were the only two players in contention who had scores in the 70s.
There are six players in contention at the moment. Alone in second place is A Lim Kim of Seoul, South Korea at -8. Kim is a major champion from the past as she won the 2020 United States Women’s Open.
Andrea Lee of Los Angeles, California is alone in third place at -7 and two strokes back of Yamashita. There are then four golfers at -6 and three stroked back. This quartet consists of Takeda of Koshi, Japan, Charley Hull of Kettering, England, American Megan Khang of Brockton, Massachusetts, and Minami Katsu of Kagoshima City, Japan. Of the four golfers at -6 there are no major champions.
The fact that Hull shot a score of four-under-par on Saturday and is now three strokes back is noteworthy because of what happened to her at the Evian Masters. She collapsed twice during her round and had to withdraw.
