Mirra Andreeva of Krasnoyarsk, Russia has won the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship. With the victory, she became the youngest player ever to win a WTA 1000 event at 17 years and 299 days old according to the WTA Tour.

In the final, Andreeva defeated Clara Tauson of Denmark 7-6, 6-1. Andreeva had six aces compared to only one for Tauson, and broke Tauson four times. She also won 73% of her first serve points.

Andreeva had three notable wins in becoming a finalist in Dubai. She defeated 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic 7-5, 6-0 in the second round, five-time grand slam champion (four French Open titles and one United States Open title) Iga Swiatek of Poland 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.

In Dubai, Andreeva was the 12th seed. She defeated two seeded opponents in the tournament. Swiatek was the second seed and Rybakina was the sixth seed.

This was Andreeva’s second career title. She previously won the 2024 Iasi Open in Romania. In the final, Andreeva defeated Elina Avanesyan of Russia, 5-7, 7-5, 4-0. Avanseyan, who now competes for Armenia, withdrew from the match due to illness. Ironically, Andreeva beat Avanseyan 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of Dubai last week.

American Coco Gauff was the previous youngest player to win a WTA 1000 series event. Gauff was only 19 years and five months old when she won the 2023 Cincinnati Open. In the Cincinnati final, leading up to the 2023 United States Open (a tournament Gauff also won), Gauff defeated Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4.
