The Miami Heat had a topsy turvy weekend to close out the 2024-25 National Basketball Association regular season, and as they prepare for their play-in tournament game on Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls. As we documented on Sunday, the Heat lost 119-118 to the lowly Washington Wizards on a buzzer beater by Bub Carrington of Baltimore, Maryland. However, only two days before, Miami set a franchise record for most points in a game with 153, in a 153-104 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
The previous record the Heat had for most points in a game came on March 19, 2018 in a 149-141 Miami overtime win over the Denver Nuggets in double overtime. This was also the most points the Pelicans ever allowed in a game. The previous record was 147 in a 147-140 Pelicans loss to the Golden State Warriors on January 16, 2019.
The Heat scored more points per quarter as the game moved along. They had 35 points in the first quarter, 36 points in the second quarter, 39 points in the third quarter, and 43 points in the fourth quarter.
Thirteen different Heat players scored points, and 10 Miami Heat players reached double figures in points. Center Bam Adebayo of Newark, New Jersey had 23 points, shooting guard Tyler Herro of Milwaukee, Wisconsin had 22 points, small forward Duncan Robinson of York, Maine had 21 points, shooting guard Alec Burks of Grandview, Missouri had 12 points, point guard Davion Mitchell of Hinesville, Georgia and small forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. of Irvine, California had 11 points each, while four Heat players had 10 points (center Kel’el Ware of North Little Rock, Arkansas, forward Andrew Wiggins of Toronto, Ontario, forward Haywood Highsmith of Baltimore, Maryland, and small forward Keshad Johnson of Oakland, California). Meanwhile, forward Kyle Anderson of New York, New York had nine points, and shooting guard Josh Cristopher of Carson, California and guard Terry Rozier of Youngstown, Ohio had two points each.
Two Heat players had double doubles. Adebayo had 12 rebounds and Ware had 11 rebounds.
