The Toronto Blue Jays were one win away from winning the 2025 World Series before a heartbreak loss to the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. On Thursday, the Blue Jays decided to bring back starting pitcher Max Scherzer of Chesterfield, Missouri to a one-year deal worth $3 million according to Matthew Mendives of usports.org.Â
Scherzer is 41 years old now and nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career. However, what we found out this week, is one unsuspecting person who was extremely influential when it came to Scherzer coming back to the Blue Jays organization. It happened to be Scherzer’s eight-year-old daughter Brooke, who wrote a fantastic letter to Blue Jays management.
The letter was posted on Instagram by Max’s wife Erica and read the following:
“Dear Blue Jays:
I am so sorry that you didn’t win the World Series. I hope that you win next time. I hope my dad is back on the team. My whole family loves spending time in Toronto with our dad. We loved the aquarium, the sea, and of course the stadium. I am looking forward to coming back next season.
Love, Max Scherzer’s daughter.”
Scherzer us an eight-time All-Star, and three-time Cy Young Award champion. However, he did struggle with the Blue Jays in the 2025 Major League Baseball regular season with a high earned run average of 5.19. Scherzer was much better in the playoffs, as he had an earned run average of 3.77 in 14 1/3 innings pitched. Now it will be interesting to see where Scherzer fits in the rotation or if he will be part of the bullpen.
