Te Maire Martin has locked in another year on his New Zealand Warriors contract, through to 2027, and will now face a head-to-head battle with Tanah Boyd to claim the Wahs number seven jumper longer-term.
The 30-year-old’s new deal with the Warriors follows a one-year extension he signed last year for the 2026 campaign.

Martin earned his new deal after an incredible replacement showing following Boyd’s torn ACL. The 30-year-old had himself battled back from a broken leg to take up the No.7 jersey midway through the year, and has been picked over Dragons-bound Luke Metcalf.
Metcalf is making a high-profile move to St George Illawarra, while young half Luke Hanson is leaving to join the Gold Coast Titans.
That leaves just Boyd and Martin to battle it out for the halfback position; whomever is selected will likely partner five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita heading into the ’27 preseason.
Boyd had been one of the best players in the competition before his ACL injury, so it is 100% his to lose once he gets fighting fit again, but Martin has been electric in the games he’s got this campaign.
To Round 18, he’s scored four tries in six games and set up seven.
“We’re delighted to have Te Maire with us for another season,” said Warriors recruitment manager Andrew McFadden said.

“He has been a key contributor through not just his ability as a player but the example he sets with his attitude and passion for the game and also his determination to come back from adversity.”
