Luka Doncic records 50 points in a game for the eighth time

Luka Doncic of Ljubljana, Slovenia continues to dazzle for the Los Angeles Lakers. On Thursday night at crypto.com Arena, Doncic scored 51 points in a 142-130 Lakers win over the Chicago Bulls. It was the eighth time in Doncic’s career he recorded a minimum of 50 points in a game. However, it was the first time Doncic scored 50 or more points in a game with the Lakers as the other previous seven times came with the Dallas Mavericks.

Doncic made 17 of 31 field goals, nine of 14 three-point attempts, and eight of nine free throws. Doncic’s 51 points came two nights after Bam Adebayo of Newark, New Jersey had 83 points on Tuesday in a 150-129 Miami Heat win over the Washington Wizards. 

In addition to reaching the half century mark in total points, Doncic recorded the double-double. He added 10 rebounds in 36 minutes and 43 seconds of action. Doncic also had nine assists, three steals, one block, and was a +15.

This season Doncic leads the NBA with 1774 total points, with 32.9 points per game, and 3.9 three-point shots made per game. He also has 8.5 assists per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game. Doncic has a field goal percentage of .475, three point percentage of .367 and free throw percentage of .776.

With the win, the Lakers improved to a record of 41 wins and 25 losses f0r a winning percentage of .621. That is the third best record in the Western Conference. The only two teams better than the Lakers in the West at the moment are the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.
