Luka Doncic reaches 50 points for sixth time in NBA career

For the sixth time in his career, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic of Ljubljana, Slovenia reached 50 points in a single game. He accomplished the feat by reaching the half century mark in a 128-114 Mavericks win over the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day,
Doncic made 15 of 25 field goals, eight of 16 three-point shots, and all 12 free throws. Doncic had the double-double, as he added 15 assists, and had six rebounds, four steals and three blocks in 43 minutes and 31 seconds. He was one of four Mavericks starters to reach double digits in points. The other three were forward Derrick Jones Jr. of Chester, Pennsylvania (23 points), center Dereck Lively II of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (20 points), and Tim Hardaway Jr. of Orinda, California (18 points).
The first time Doncic reached 50 points in a game came on February 10, 2022 when he scored 51 points in a 112-105 Mavericks win over the Los Angeles Clippers. That was followed by 50 points in a 112-106 Mavericks win over the Houston Rockets on December 23, 2022, 60 points in a 126-121 Mavericks overtime win over the New York Knicks on December 27, 2022, 51 points in a 126-125 Dallas win over the San Antonio Spurs on New Year’s Eve, 2022, and 53 points in a 111-105 Dallas Mavericks win over the Detroit Pistons on January 30, 2023.
In 2023-24, Doncic is averaging 33.5 points per game, 9.4 assists per game, 8.5 rebounds per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He has a field goal percentage of .489, three-point percentage of .387, and a free throw percentage of .785. The Mavericks are currently tied for fourth place in the Western Conference with the Sacramento Kings. Dallas has a record of 18 wins and 12 losses.
