Lions set franchise record for longest winning streak in franchise history

The Detroit Lions set a franchise record for the longest winning steak in franchise history on Thursday. They accomplished the feat by winning their 11th straight game in a 34-31 win over the Green Bay Packers in a tight NFC North Division matchup.
According to Larry Lage of the Associated Press, the Lions’s previous record was 10 which was set in the 1934 National Football League season. So far during the 2024 National Football League regular season, the Lions have a record of 12 wins and one loss. Their last defeat was on September 15 back in week two, as they were defeated 20-16 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Â
The Lions were led on Thursday by Jared Goff of Novato, California, Goff completed 32 of 41 passes for 283 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also had four rushes for seven yards. Two of the passing touchdowns went to Tim Patrick of San Diego, California.
There are two NFL franchises currently at one loss. The other is the Kansas City Chiefs, which are at 11 wins and one loss. Kansas City plays the Los Angeles Chargers in what is expected to be an epic matchup on Sunday night. Meanwhile, three other franchises have reached double figures in wins. They are the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, who are all at 10 wins and two losses.
The longest regular season winning streak in NFL history belongs to the Indianapolis Colts. They won 23 straight games over two seasons (2008 and 2009). They won nine games during the 2008 season and then 14 games during the 2009 season.
