On a night that the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks made NBA headlines because it was their first game since their blockbuster trade, Lakers small forward LeBron James of Akron, Ohio made NBA history. James set the record for the most games all-time with a three point shot made.

According to Ben Stinar of Sports Illustrated, James set the record for the most games with a three point shot made (1148). He broke the previous record set by Ray Allen, who had a three point shot made in 1147 games.

James made two three point shots on Tuesday in a 107-99 Lakers win over the Mavericks. The first three point shot came from 27 feet with two minutes and nine seconds into the game, and put the Lakers up 9-2. Fascinatingly, it was Doncic who had the assist.

James finished the game with a double double, as he had 27 points and 12 rebounds. Doncic had a great game himself as he had 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists for the triple double. It was Doncic’s first triple double as a Lakers player.

In James’s career, he now has 2528 three pointers. Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry remains the all-time leader in three point shots made with 3957. Ironically, James and Curry both hail from Akron, Ohio.

With the win, the Lakers are now tied with the Houston Rockets for fourth place in the Western Conference. They are both 10.5 games back of the conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder. But, technically the Lakers are fourth because they are four one hundredths of a percentage point better than the Rockets.
