Lay Of The Day: 5 Horses We Think You Should Lay At Randwick & Caulfield 14/10
October 14, 2022
Our analyst has put together a list of five horses he thinks you should ‘lay’ at Randwick & Caulfield tomorrow.
*Note:
In horse racing, when you lay a horse, you win if any other horse in the race comes first. If the horse you bet against wins then you lose and have to pay the backer his winnings.
CAULFIELD RACE 5 –Â Â ANGRY SKIES
- Trainer: Hayes Team
- Jockey: B Shinn
- Barrier: 3
- Price: $5.00 @ Betfair
He’s shown promise at his two starts and was unlucky last start at Sandown but he hasn’t shown any early speed so far and from barrier three is likely to be buried back in the field. He’s a risk.
CAULFIELD RACE 8 –Â Â PALAISIPAN
- Trainer: C Munce
- Jockey: T Clark
- Barrier: 1
- Price: $8.20 @ Betfair
She’s been in great form in Brisbane and Sydney but she faces the challenge of racing at Caulfield for the first time plus she is starting from barrier one and horses are sure to be racing wide by that stage of the day.

CAULFIELD RACE 10 – OLD FLAME
- Trainer: Snowden Team
- Jockey: T Berry
- Barrier: 7
- Price: $6.80 @ Betfair
Yes he was unlucky last week but does that mean he can win a week later over the same track and distance. Not necessarily.
RANDWICK RACE 8 –Â MR MOZART
- Trainer: Hawkes Team
- Jockey: B Avdulla
- Barrier: 1
- Price: $3.75 @ Betfair
Gun galloper but he has to give weight to some smart rivals. Also he’s starting from barrier one which may not be the place to be later in the day.

RANDWICK RACE 10 – POLLY GREY
- Trainer: C Waller
- Jockey: Â H Bowman
- Barrier: 6
- Price: $5.00 @ Betfair
She’s a swimmer and her recent first-up form has been encouraging but she’s still only won once first-up attempts and she’s now an eight-year-old. She doesn’t look to be of any value.
