Top five tight ends in the NFL

According to Jack Bechta, the agent of San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle on Monday, Kittle deserves a “special contract.” Bechta is currently in negotiations to get his client a remarkable contract. Just how big? Well according to Bechta, no football player compares to Kittle, and he even called Kittle a unicorn according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports.

Where does Kittle rank among the top tight ends in the National Football League? Let’s take a look.

5) Zach Ertz–Philadelphia Eagles–The native of Orange, California is currently 6’5″, 250 pounds. The husband of United States women’s soccer star Julie Ertz, Zach Ertz led the NFL in receptions by a tight end in 2018 with 116. Last year he had 88 catches for 916 yards and six touchdowns. The Stanford University product is a three-time Pro Bowler and won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2018.

4) Darren Waller–Las Vegas Raiders–There is no doubt that Waller, a native of Landover, Maryland, had a breakout 2019 NFL season after beginning his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. He previously spent two seasons with the Ravens before signing with the Oakland Raiders on November 26, 2018. The move from the east coast to the west coast did wonders for Waller’s game as he had 90 catches for 1145 yards and three touchdowns in 2019. Now like many Raiders who are moving to the Sin City, one will need to question if the off-field distractions that occur in Vegas, will impact Waller’s production on the football field.

3) George Kittle–San Francisco 49ers–Football agent Jack Bechta might make you believe George Kittle is the best tight end in the NFL, but he is number three on our list. Kittle, a native of Madison, Wisconsin, had 85 catches for 1053 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. The two-time Pro Bowler actually set the NFL record for most receiving yards by a tight end in a single season (1377) in 2018, but his offensive production dropped in 2019, and as a result, cannot be considered the best player at his position in the NFL anymore.

2) Mark Andrews–Baltimore Ravens–There is no doubt that Andrews, a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, is on a Ravens squad that has the luxury of having two very solid tight ends as Nick Boyle of Wantage, New Jersey is also in the mix. Even though Andrews only had 64 catches and 852 yards in 2019, it was in the red zone where he did most of his damage. Andrews led the NFL last season among tight ends with 10 touchdown catches.

1) Travis Kelce–Kansas City Chiefs–The native of Westlake, Ohio has become a fan favourite in Kansas City. The five-time Pro Bowler led all tight ends in 2019 with 97 catches and 1229 receiving yards. The Super Bowl champion also found the end zone on five occasions.
