Magic Johnson and Billie Jean King are now World Series champions as owners

The Los Angeles Dodgers won a controversial game six of the World Series on Tuesday, due to the fact the franchise did not seem to take coronavirus very seriously by allowing third baseman Justin Turner to go out on the field and celebrate with this teammates even though he tested positive for the disease earlier in the evening. When the Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1, it meant that two other American sports icons were World Series champions. I am referring to former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Magic Johnson and tennis legend Billie Jean King.

Johnson was part of the ownership team that bought the Dodgers from Frank McCourt in 2012. It is one of two professional sports teams that Johnson is an investor in. The other is the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. Since being a part owner of the Dodgers eight years ago, Los Angeles has been one of the most successful teams in all of baseball. They have had a regular season record of 800 wins and 557 losses. They have reached the postseason in each of the last eight seasons, and on Tuesday won their first World Series Championship since 1988.

King became a minority owner of the Dodgers in 2018. She was joined by her partner, Ilana Kloss, in the ownership. Like Johnson, King and Kloss are part owners of the Sparks. On Tuesday for game six, Johnson, King, and Kloss were in attendance at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. It should be noted that even though Johnson and King are part of the Dodgers ownership, Johnson recognizes American businessman Mark Walters as the primary owner.
