Luka Doncic records 50 points in a NBA game for a fifth time

For the fifth time in his National Basketball Association career, Luka Doncic of Ljubljana, Slovenia registered a 50-point game. He accomplished the feat by scoring 53 points in a 111-105 Dallas Mavericks win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday.
Doncic made 17 of 24 field goal attempts, five of 11 three-point attempts and 14 of 18 free throw attempts. He had eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and was a +8.
Doncic’s four prior 50 point games were all in the 2022 calendar year. He had 51 points in a 112-105 Mavericks win over the Los Angeles Clippers on February 10, 50 points in a 112-106 Mavericks win over the Houston Rockets in an all-Texas battle on December 23, 2022, a career-high 60 points in a 126-121 Mavericks overtime win over the New York Knicks on December 27, 2022, and 51 points in a 126-125 Mavericks win over the San Antonio Spurs in another all-Texas battle on New Year’s Eve, 2022.

In 2022-23, Doncic is averaging 33.4 points per game, 8.9 rebounds per game, 8.3 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game. He has a field goal percentage of .501, three-point percentage of .355, and a free throw percentage of .730. Doncic currently leads the NBA with 1538 points. Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics is second with 1493 points. Doncic is also second in the NBA in points per game. Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers leads with 33.6 points per game.
The Mavericks have a record of 27 wins and 25 losses. They are tied with the Phoenix Suns for sixth place ln the Western Conference. The Suns beat the Toronto Raptors 114-106 on Monday. The Pistons are last in the East at 13 wins and 39 losses.
