Buddy Hield becomes fifth NBA player to make 200 three-point shots five straight seasons
February 7, 2023

Buddy Hield of Freeport, Bahamas is a fantastic long range shooter. On Friday, in the Indiana Pacers’s 107-104 win over the Sacramento Kings, Hield made five three-point shots, including his 200th three-point shot of the season. After Sunday’s 122-103 loss to Cleveland, where he made four three-pointers, Hield now has 208 three-point shots this season, which leads the NBA.
By making his 200th three-point shot against the Kings, Hield became the fifth player in NBA history to make a minimum of 200 shots from downtown for five straight seasons according to ESPN. Interestingly, the other four players on the list are all active. They are Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors, and James Harden, while with the Houston Rockets. Hield had a double-double against Sacramento, as he scored 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Hield made 278 three-pointers while with the Sacramento Kings in 2018-19. That was followed by 271 three-point shots with the Kings in 2019-20, 282 three-point shots made with the Kings in 2020-21, and 262 three-point shots made in 2021-22 with the Kings and Pacers. Of the 262 three-point shots Hield made last season, 182 were with the Kings, and 80 were with the Pacers. Hield came to Indiana in the blockbuster trade involving Domantas Sabonis and Tyrese Haliburton a year ago.
Earlier this season, Hield made additional history with this three-point shooting. In a 135-126 Pacers win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 29, Hield became the fastest player in NBA history to make a three-point shot from the start of the game. Hield opened the scoring with a shot made only three seconds into the contest.
