On January 26, Kyrie Irving was selected to play in the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. Yet on Sunday, he was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks. Let’s take a look at the last five NBA players who were All-Stars and traded in the same season.
5) DeMarcus Cousins
On February 20, 2017, Cousins, a power forward from Mobile, Alabama, was traded by the Sacramento Kings with Omri Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans for Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, Buddy Hield, and a first round pick and second round pick in 2017. In 2016-17, Cousins had 27 points per game, but also led the NBA with 278 total fouls.
4) Deron Williams
On February 23, 2011, Williams, a point guard from Parkersburg, West Virginia, was traded by the Utah Jazz to the New Jersey Nets for Derrick Favours, Devin Harris, two first round picks (in 2011 and 2013) and cash. This was the last season for the New Jersey Nets before they moved to Brooklyn.

3) Carmelo Anthony
On February 22, 2011, Anthony, a forward from Brooklyn, was traded from Denver to New York, in a three-way deal that also included Minnesota. In all 12 players were dealt, with Anthony, and Chauncy Billups (who was also traded from Denver to New York) as the biggest names in the deal.
2) Chauncey Billups
On November 3, 2008, Billups, a guard from Denver, was traded from Detroit to Denver. He only played two games with the Pistons that season before 77 games with the Nuggets.
1) Allen Iverson
Another player involved in the Billups trade, Iverson was traded from Denver to Detroit for Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb. The guard from Hampton, Virginia, led the NBA in points per game four times and steals per game thrice.
