With the early season injuries to Najee Harris (torn Achilles), and Omarion Hampton (ankle), there were questions with the Los Angeles Chargers who would step up next at the running back position. The answer seems to be Kimani Vidal of Marietta, Georgia.
In two of the last three weeks, Vidal has simply been electrifying. On Thursday night in southern California, Vidal had 23 rushes for 117 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown, along with one catch for 10 receiving yards in a convincing 37-10 Chargers win over the Minnesota Vikings. Vidal’s touchdown run was for three yards early in the second quarter and put the Chargers up 14-0 at the time. With the win, the Chargers improved to a record of five wins and three losses and are alone in second place in the AFC West at the moment.
Earlier this month, Vidal put together a strong game against the Miami Dolphins, who have had a terrible start to the season as they have only win and six losses. He had 18 rushes for 124 rushing yards, and three catches for 14 receiving yards and one touchdown catch. Vidal had a seven yard touchdown catch from Justin Herbert which put the Chargers up 23-13 at the time.
In additional to Vidal on Thursday, there were notable games for Herbert and kicker Cameron Dicker. Herbert had three touchdown passes as he connected for major scores with Ladd McConkey, Oronde Gadsden II, and Tre Harris. Dicker “the Kicker” meanwhile made three field goals and four converts. He made field goals from 34, 43 and 45 yards.
