Kalgoorlie Tip Sheet, Staking Plan and Horses To Follow – Kalgoorlie Cup Day Saturday 3rd October

Bit of a different set-up here on Cup Day than we received Thursday, with the temperature dropping from 35 degrees to about 17 degrees here and some rain expected to fall throughout the day. The rail stays in the true position. Been on a very lean run of late but know the wheel will turn, sticking the course with my markets and speed maps.

Race 1 – 12:13PM YARRADALE STUD TOM SAYERS MEMORIAL HANDICAP (1760m)

4. Staaden – 2. Cuban Twist – 7. Street Fair – 3. Magic Will Reign

Race 2 – 12:52PM MCE HANDICAP (2100m)

3. Frosty Heart – 1. Bollinger Boy – 2. So Schmick – 5. Stairwaytothemoon

Frosty Heart

Looks a really nice race for a horse in-form who can very much stay. Is 2 on the bounce with the 4kg claimer in the saddle, 2 starts back beating a very handy field (and much stronger one than this) over the 2200m in very convincing style. Looks to be a real lack of speed engaged here and Boy Hill can either roll him to the top from the draw or just box seat and the senior jockey going on only ticks more boxes. Very hard to run down in quite a thin staying contest. Have him marked a $3.00 favourite in a race where Bollinger Boy is close to an even money pop, happy to get involved.

Race 3 – 2:17PM FIFTH LEG HANDICAP (1760m)

8. Iseered Iseered – 7. Brave Dream – 6. Bosnipp – 5. Smug Noxious

Iseered Iseered

Have a feeling this is one that Luke Fernie has primed and is waiting to unleash here at his hometown racing round. Looked a really nice type when doing it easy in a 400m trial back in May and love the fact that they’ve saved him for this, which indicates to me they don’t intend on just running him round to have a look and that they feel he is good enough to win. Watch for betting late but happy to have a speculative play here.

Race 8 – 4:45PM IRON JACK KALGOORLIE CUP (2200m)

1. Come Play With Me – 6. Divine Shadow – 4. Friar Fox – 12. Superior Smile

Race 9 – 5:25PM COASTAL MIDWEST TRANSPORT HANDICAP (1200m)

3. Special Choice – 2. Tajmali – 1. Manhattan Money – 9. Pastry

Special Choice

Looks a really nice race for Special Choice here for the very much in-form Adam Durrant. Ran very well 1st up over an unsuitable 1000m scamper, jumping from the also unsuitable inside peg, where he found himself 3 back the fence and made to take the shortcut on the fence which on the day was not where you wanted to be on the track with all winners coming from out wide. 2nd up at a much more suitable 1200m, should take a more forward position from gate 3 and be running home hard in a race with an abundance of speed coming across from out wide. Pretty keen on his chances in the get out.
